We, the Muslimische Hochschulgruppe (MHG Konstanz), invite you to join us in calling for the establishment of a Room of Silence on campus—a peaceful, inclusive space for individuals of all beliefs and backgrounds to engage in prayer, meditation, and quiet reflection.
Why a Room of Silence?
- Well-being and Mental Health: A serene environment can help reduce stress, support mindfulness, and foster emotional balance—benefiting everyone during hectic academic schedules.
- Inclusivity and Community: This space will reflect our diverse campus, welcoming people from all cultural and religious backgrounds, as well as those who simply seek a place for quiet contemplation.
- Respect for Beliefs: Recognizing and respecting a variety of spiritual practices fosters mutual understanding and respect within our university community.
- Practical Access for Prayer: Because the nearest mosque is quite far from campus, creating a dedicated on-campus room would provide a more accessible space for daily prayers, ensuring that students and staff can fulfill their religious obligations without interrupting their academic commitments.
